Gatorhook in Big Cypress draws the viewer into a still cypress swamp filled with massive flared trunks and dark reflective water. Warm sunlight filters through the forest, bringing out amber, green, and rust tones along the bark and vegetation. Reflections double the vertical shapes of the trees and add remarkable depth to the wetland scene. The photograph conveys the dense, ancient character of Florida’s Big Cypress landscape.
