Orca 1 captures a small group of killer whales surfacing across deep blue water with snow-covered mountains rising in the distance. One plume of spray breaks above the surface while several dark dorsal fins create a loose rhythm across the lower frame. The expansive mountain backdrop gives the animals a powerful sense of scale within their environment. This photograph combines marine wildlife with a dramatic northern landscape into a single layered composition.
