Reddish Egret White Morph 12 freezes an active stride as the bird races through shallow water with its wings partially opened. One dark leg reaches forward while the white wings create broad, airy shapes around the slender body. Reflections and ripples below record the speed of the movement. The photograph captures the restless feeding style for which Reddish Egrets are especially well known.
